Hero Xpulse 210 Dakar Edition: When Will It Actually Launch in India?

If you've been waiting for the Hero Xpulse 210 Dakar Edition, you're probably getting a little impatient by now.

Hero has already shown the bike to the world, put it on display and even listed it on its website. Yet, for Indian buyers, the one question that really matters still doesn't have an answer:

When can we actually buy it?

The Xpulse 210 Dakar Edition was unveiled by Hero MotoCorp at EICMA 2025 in Milan. From the beginning, Hero positioned it as a more serious off road version of the Xpulse 210, with plenty of inspiration from its Hero MotoSports Dakar racing program.

But here we are in September 2026, and Hero still hasn't given us an official Indian launch date.

So, when is the Xpulse 210 Dakar Edition launching?

The honest answer is that we still don't know.

Earlier reports made it sound like the wait wouldn't be very long.

In January 2026, BikeDekho reported that Hero was targeting the end of February or early March for the launch. ZigWheels reported a similar February to March timeline.

That obviously didn't happen.

As the months went by, expectations shifted toward a mid 2026 launch. That didn't happen either.

The bike is still listed as an upcoming model by motorcycle websites, while Hero's own website continues to feature it.

So if you see someone confidently giving you an exact launch date right now, take it with a pinch of salt unless Hero itself has announced it.

Why are riders so interested in the Dakar Edition?

Because this isn't just an Xpulse 210 with some fancy graphics.

Hero has made some meaningful changes to the bike.

The biggest one is probably the suspension. Hero lists 280mm of suspension travel at both the front and rear. That's a serious amount of travel for a motorcycle in this segment and gives you a pretty good idea of what Hero wants this bike to do.

You also get:

• Rally inspired styling and graphics
• Dakar branding
• Ross Branch's signature
• Long travel suspension
• Knobby off road tyres
• More ground clearance
• TFT instrumentation
• Navigation and smartphone connectivity
• Switchable ABS and off road riding modes

In other words, Hero isn't really trying to sell this as a cosmetic special edition.

The idea is to make the Xpulse more capable when the road disappears.

And that's exactly what makes it interesting.

What about the price?

This is another big unknown.

There is still no official Indian price for the Dakar Edition.

Earlier reports suggested that Hero could price it somewhere around ₹1.95 lakh to ₹2 lakh ex showroom. At the time, that would have put it roughly ₹30,000 above the top Xpulse 210.

The standard Xpulse 210 has since become more expensive, with BikeDekho currently listing it from around ₹1.67 lakh and the top variant at around ₹1.76 lakh.

So a Dakar Edition somewhere around the ₹2 lakh mark still seems possible.

But for now, that's just an estimate.

Hero hasn't confirmed the price.

What will the Dakar Edition actually be like to ride?

This is the part I'm most interested in.

The regular Xpulse 210 is already a pretty appealing motorcycle if you want something affordable, lightweight and capable of handling bad roads.

But take it onto a proper trail and you start to see where the compromises are.

The Dakar Edition looks like Hero is trying to push the bike further in that direction.

The longer suspension, extra ground clearance and more aggressive tyres should make it much more comfortable when the terrain gets rough.

That's important because there are plenty of adventure motorcycles that look ready for an expedition but spend 95 percent of their lives on tarmac.

The Dakar Edition seems to be aimed at people who actually want to leave the tarmac.

And that's a very different proposition.

Why is Hero taking so long?

This is where things get a little unclear.

Hero hasn't publicly explained why the launch has been delayed, so anything we say here is speculation.

What we do know is that Hero continues to show the Dakar Edition on its official website and in its Premia listings.

That suggests the motorcycle hasn't simply been forgotten or cancelled.

The strange part is that the bike has effectively gone through almost every stage of a launch.

We've seen it unveiled.

We've seen the specifications.

We've seen the motorcycle in Hero's promotional material.

We've seen it on the website.

What we haven't seen is the thing Indian buyers actually need:

A price, booking date and delivery date.

Should you wait for the Dakar Edition?

If you're primarily interested in off road riding, I'd say yes, it's worth waiting.

The standard Xpulse 210 is already a good option if you want an affordable adventure motorcycle. But the Dakar Edition is potentially the more interesting bike if your idea of a good weekend involves dirt, trails and getting your motorcycle properly dirty.

The biggest factor will be the price.

If Hero manages to keep it around ₹2 lakh ex showroom, I think it could be a seriously attractive motorcycle.

At that price, you would be getting a lightweight adventure bike with a strong off road focus without having to spend a huge amount of money.

But if Hero pushes the price significantly higher, the equation changes.

At that point, buyers will start looking at other motorcycles and asking whether the extra money is really worth it.

The bottom line

The Hero Xpulse 210 Dakar Edition isn't a rumour.

Hero officially unveiled it at EICMA 2025 and continues to feature the motorcycle on its website.

But as of September 2026, there is still no officially confirmed Indian launch date or price.

The earlier February and March launch predictions came and went. The mid year expectations came and went too.

So for now, we're still waiting.

My best advice is simple:

Don't book anything based on an unofficial launch date. Wait for Hero to announce the price and booking details.

The bike is real. It is coming. We just don't know exactly when Hero is finally going to let Indian riders have it.

And honestly, after this long a wait, I think quite a few Xpulse owners are going to be watching very closely.
